Our History, Our Family, Our Company

Azienda Agricola Fratelli Tondo" is a limited liability agricultural company whose partners are Vitantonio Tondo and his two sons, Donato and Luigi.
The company owns the Femminamorta "masseria" (old farmhouse), located in the central part of the Puglia region near the border of the Alta Murgia Natural Park and it cultivates the surrounding land.

This property was originally acquired in 1931 by our Great Grandfather Vito Tondo along with his siblings Filippo and Rosetta, the first generation of Tondo brothers who lived in and loved this place. Besides the land, the property includes a splendid stone house that was built in 1870. The farmhouse was designed for wine production but it was soon enlarged for livestock farming and for cereal cultivation , in fact, while the farmhouse was surrounded by vineyards and cereal fields, it was also ideal for sheep-farming, due to its proximity to "tratturi", ancient roads used by local villagers.
Little by little, after World War II, the first generation retired and was replaced by the second one. In particular, our Grandfather Donato, Vito's son, carried on the cultivation of the land and at the beginning of the '50s, planted the olive grove that is still in production today.
Since the mid '60s, following the premature death of our Grandfather Donato and his brother Natale, the third generation took over, the one represented by Vitantonio, our Father. Despite the fact that he has been working for about 50 years as a business consultant, our Father never ceased to take care of the property inherited from his father and, little by little, he bought some more land to reach the current 15 hectares and about two thirds of the entire house, the remaining third belonging to other relatives.
In 2007 it was finally time for us, Donato and Luigi, to take our turn in managing the family business and for this purpose, "Azienda Agricola Fratelli Tondo" was born.
Therefore, it is now 4 generations that our family has been tied to this land and to the old farmhouse. This strong attachment to this place & the traditions, as well as the sense of continuity of our family history, drives us to continue cultivating this generous land and to infuse our passion into the products we offer our customers.
